AMITY

An abandoned annex rises back to triumph

Amity Street
Brooklyn, New York

Built in the late 1800s as a hospital. After sitting unoccupied for several years, developers divided the historical structure into into three residential units.

Our client occupied the center unit which was fortunate enough to have the former main entrance serve as the front door to the residence. While wanting to create a contemporary and clean overall interior, the original door was retained and all details restored. These original details were enhanced by merging the original elements with a modern aesthetic.

A hardworking and sleek kitchen was achieved with a Henry Built install and new gas fireplaces installed within the frames of the wood burning originals, which were carefully rehabbed to harmonize the historic with the update.

The existing exterior columns and outdoor roof became the footprint for a 2000 sq foot rooftop terrace designed for entertaining and lounging.
